New Business:

Chuck Hill, V.P. has graciously volunteered to host our Christmas party this year at his home on 12/11/18, which coincidently is our regular monthly second Tuesday of the month meeting night. It will be a pot luck, and we will have our usual gift exchange. It was decided this year that there will be no involuntary gift “stealing” or exchanges after the gifts are distributed this year. In other words you keep what you get unless you decide to trade a gift by mutual agreement. Everyone that wishes to participate will bring a gift ($20.00 or less) marked for a male or female accordingly for exchange.

Some of our members have agreed to bring the following (You know who you are.);

Fried chicken, baked beans, salad, ham, hot pasta dish, chow mein or fried rice, desserts (pie and brownies), wine and other beverages. For those of you that plan to come please feel free to bring whatever you like to share.

The party will start at 6:00 PM -?. Chuck’s address is 1382 Deerfield Court in Concord.

There are plans forming to put on 3 control line events in January 2019. Also indoor events are in the planning stages also. More information will be coming or announced forthwith.

For those of you that are interested in RC boating Jerry Barrilleaux and Maurice Lieberman will be hosting events at Basset lake located in Newall Park in Concord in the coming months (to be announced.) We both have several vessels that we will bring for those of you to actively participate with that are interested in model sailing on the lake. Please come out and join them in the fun!

New category; Sources of products, services, and clubs, etc. For reference as secretary I will list these items as they come up for your convenience.
Victor Model Products; Based in Louisiana specializing in manufacturing RC model sailboat kits such as the V-32.
Aeronuts: RC flying club based in Alameda. They have an “airstrip” off of Doolittle Way and often host control line flying events throughout the year. George Ellison is our contact person for their club.

Minutes of the Oct. 2018 Meeting

October 9, 2018 CME Club Minutes;
President, Dennis Romano opened our meeting October 9, 2018 at 7:34 PM.
Minutes Report: It was submitted for the previous meeting in September, and read into the minutes of this meeting by Maurice Lieberman, CME Club Secretary.
Roll Call of Officers: Dennis Romano, President, Chuck Hill, V.P., and Maurice Lieberman, Secretary were present, along with 11 members attending.
Chuck Hill, Treasurer’s Report:
Chuck stated we have $1,134.79 currently in our Treasury.
Old Business: None to report.
New Business:
Dennis reported the FAA’s bill for a special exemption for model aircraft passed. The law states model aircraft can only fly up to an altitude of 400 feet. Dennis was concerned this restriction could cause a problem for glider fliers that need higher altitudes to maneuver their planes.
AMA is the official organization that monitors model aircraft. However its activities are overseen by the FAA. The FAA by law has the authority and jurisdiction to regulate the AMA, and its activities. The FAA is considering requiring model fliers to obtain licenses. Please see the amamodelaircraft.org website for updated information.
We welcomed the following new member and guest: Dick Hanson (dickhanson35@gmaic.com) and his friend Carolyn Dial. Dick builds static model boats and brought four of them to display. He is an avid classic car enthusiast and has rebuilt and restored 1950’s era cars. He was sponsored by Maurice Lieberman who met him and his friend Carol at the Steam Boat Festival on the Delta while Maurice was sailing his boats there. We are very pleased to have you both join us!

Our Charter requires that we need one of our members to volunteer to be our “Safety Officer.” Thank you to George Hollidge for volunteering to fulfill this necessary position to ensure the ongoing safety of our club members and guests at sanctioned (and -unsanctioned) club flying events.

Nomination of CME Club Officers for 2019:
Chuck Hill, President
Dennis Menger, Vice President
Ron Delvasto, Treasurer
Maurice Lieberman, Secretary
Dennis did a great job as our President this year. Due to hectic teaching and family schedules Dennis will have to miss several meetings in the coming year. Therefor he will be stepping down as our club President at the end of his term. Thank you for your service Dennis!
Chuck has served as our President before and will continue to support our club as he always has back in his “old” role as our club President in the coming year.
Ron volunteered to serve in the coming year as our club’s Treasurer.
Maurice volunteered to continue in his role as Secretary.
The CME Club vote for the election of officers will be held during our November meeting.
Reminder: Chuck flies his planes almost every Sunday afternoon around 4:00 PM at Court Lane. Everyone is invited to join him in the fun. He has trainer radios and will teach you how to fly. All you have to do is just show up!
One of our long standing members, Warren can no longer drive. He lives in Hercules and would appreciate hitching a ride with anyone that leaves nearby to our monthly meetings and events. Please contact either Dennis or Chuck for details if any of you can help him out.
Due to the embargo on Chinese goods, Graupner and Horizon will be raising prices between 8 to 15%. This increase will impact mostly wholesale goods and electronics.
Parade of Planes: Actually it was a Parade of Boats this month!
We will be trying out something new this month. If possible we will try to include photos of events, models, etc. into the monthly Minutes Reports. Attached are two photos of Dick Hanson’s boats; a tug and little steamboat. The yellow steamboat was built by Maurice.
After the raffle, Dennis closed the meeting at 8:35 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Maurice Lieberman
