Club Bylaws

Concord Model Engineers, Constitution and Bylaws

This document is effective July 7, 2018 and supersedes all previous documents on this subject.

 

1. NAME: The name of the club will be “Concord Model Engineers.” It may be referred to as CME. Concord Model Engineers will be operated as an informal, not for profit club. The club will normally operate as a chartered club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).

 

2. PURPOSE. The purpose of the club is primarily to promote the enjoyment of model aviation by its members. Other forms of modeling are also welcome.

 

3. FINANCES: Dues will be collected annually to cover the operating costs of the club and to pay any expenses incurred in staging events for the enjoyment of the membership. There will be no disbursement of club funds to members except to cover said expenses. ln the event of dissolution of the club, distribution of funds will be determined by the membership at that time. Dues are collected on a calendar year basis. For new members, joining for the first time, dues will be prorated based on the number of quarters, in whole or in part, remaining in the year. Any money in excess of expenses resulting from club sponsored events will be deposited in the club treasury.

 

4. MEMBERSHIP: Membership is open to all those willing to participate constructively and conduct themselves in accordance with AMA guidelines. All members of the same household are considered club members, not withstanding, there will only be one vote per membership. AMA membership is required for anyone participating in an event as a flyer.

 

5. MEETINGS: Meetings will be held monthly at a time and place chosen by the membership. For purposes of decision making, a regular meeting is one at a time and place announced to the membership at least two weeks prior to said meeting.

 

6. OFFICERS: Officers of the Club will be AMA members. Officers of the club will be elected annually, normally at the November meeting. Nominations will normally be made at the October meeting. The officers of the club are: the president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. These club officers constitute the club directors. ln addition, there may be other functions headed by club members such as newsletter editor, safety officer, or web master, those functions being commonly understood.

 

7. DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY: The normal decision making process is by majority vote at the regularly scheduled meetings, those present constituting a quorum, except as noted below.

 

  • a. Commitment of club funds up to $200 may be made on the authority of the President.
  • b. Commitment of club funds up to $500 may be made on the authority of at least three of the club officers, acting in concert.
  • c. Termination of membership of any member requires a two thirds majority vote of those members present at a regularly scheduled meeting.
  • d. Amendments to this document requires a two thirds majority vote of those members present at a regularly scheduled meeting. A notice that an amendment is being considered is required at the previous regular monthly meeting.

8. GENERAL PRUDENTIAL RULE: No officer or member may conduct him or herself in such a manner as to bring discredit to the club or model aviation, or in any way that is detrimental to the club.
